Dysco Truck Rental — Frequently Asked Questions

Reservations & Availability

Q: How far in advance should I make a reservation?
You can reserve a truck any time before your move, but rates and availability are better when booked earlier. Last-minute bookings are accepted, subject to vehicle availability.

Q: Can I change or cancel my reservation?
Yes. Please contact your pickup location or call Dysco support.

Q: Can I pick up a truck at one location and return it to another?
Yes — one-way rentals are allowed between select locations.

Rental Rates & Charges

Q: How are truck rental rates calculated?
Rates typically include a base rental period, plus charges for distance (mileage) and fuel. For one-way moves, the quote may include some miles and days built in.

Q: What about additional days or extra miles?
If you need more time or miles than originally reserved, you can often purchase them in advance at a discounted rate. If not pre-purchased, excess use is charged at standard overage rates.

Q: Are there extra fees, taxes or surcharges?
Yes. You are responsible for taxes, local fees, tolls, and other surcharges. Your local pickup location will provide details for your region.

Payment, Deposit & Insurance

Q: What payment methods are accepted?
We accept major credit cards; some locations may accept debit card or cash with restrictions. At time of pickup, a hold or deposit may be required depending on payment method.

Q: Is a deposit required?
Yes, typically. The amount depends on rental terms (one-way vs local) and vehicle type. The deposit is refunded if the truck is returned per contract and in acceptable condition.

Q: Do I have to purchase insurance or protection from you?
Insurance or protection plan purchases are optional but recommended, especially if your personal auto policy does not cover commercial moves. Without it, you may be liable for damage up to the full value of the vehicle.

Driver Requirements & Use

Q: What driver’s license is required?
You must present a valid, government-issued driver’s license with photo. Temporary, learner’s permits, or expired licenses are not accepted.

Q: Can someone else drive the truck?
Yes, as long as they meet all rental requirements and are added as an additional driver when you pick up the truck. The primary renter is ultimately responsible.

Pickup & Return

Q: What do I need to bring when I pick up the truck?
Typically: your driver’s license, proof of insurance (if using your own), the payment method, and any confirmation or reservation number. The rental location may also inspect your credit or payment method.

Q: Do I have to return the truck with a certain amount of fuel?
Yes — return the vehicle with the same fuel level it had at pickup (this is recorded in your contract). If not, a fuel surcharge or refueling fee may apply.

Q: What if I return the truck late?
Late returns are possible but may incur additional day charges or penalties as specified in your agreement. Always notify the rental branch as soon as possible if delays arise.

During the Rental

Q: What if the truck breaks down or I have an issue?
Contact our roadside assistance immediately. We’ll dispatch help as soon as possible. Be sure to keep your contact number and vehicle location handy.

Q: What happens if I’m in an accident?
Report to local authorities and obtain a police report if required. Then contact Dysco and follow the damage reporting procedure. If you opted for protection/insurance, coverage may apply less deductible or exclusions depending on your plan.

Q: Can I tow another vehicle or equipment with the rental truck?
Towing may be allowed on certain truck models (e.g. pickup or medium-duty trucks), based on manufacturer specifications and local rules. Additional charges may apply.

General & Business Use

Q: Do you rent trucks for business or commercial use?
Yes. If you rent frequently for business, we offer commercial accounts and discounted rates. Contact a Dysco representative to set up a business account.

Q: Do you sell used trucks?
Yes, we often sell used vans and trucks from our fleet. Contact your nearest brand office to view our latest inventory.

Q: Do you offer long-term rentals or leases?
Yes — for extended needs (weeks or months), contact us for special pricing and terms.

Miscellaneous

Q: Can I drive the truck across national or international borders?
Cross-border travel may be allowed depending on the route and permits. You are responsible for following border regulations, customs procedures, or required documentation.

Q: How many people can ride in the truck?
The number of seats depends on the truck model. Some trucks seat three; others may only have driver + passenger.

Q: Do your trucks have liftgates or ramps?
Some trucks may include loading ramps; full liftgates may not be available. Check with your pickup location for those features.

Q: Are there restrictions on what I can transport?
Yes — you cannot carry illegal, hazardous, or perishable materials unless permitted. Also obey local vehicle weight and safety regulations.
